After John Mayer’s very public statements regarding his break-up with Jennifer Aniston, her friends are rallying support around the former Friends star.

“Jen will never kiss and tell, but it’s she who ended the relationship,” a source close to Jen says. “(Mayer’s) childish behavior only confirms she was right to dump him. Now he’s acting like a spoiled child. Expect Jen to behave like a lady.”

According to John, “I ended a relationship to be alone, because I don’t want to waste somebody’s time if something’s not right.”

Another source close to Jen said, “Jen was tired of paying for everything. Cobwebs come flying out of (Mayer’s) wallet when he opens it. John liked living like a movie star when he was with her. … Jen would never say anything, but you could tell it irritated her.”

John Mayer stood up for his ex-girlfriend Jennifer Aniston as he spoke to a group of photographers after working out at Equinox Gym in New York’s SoHo neighborhood. Here’s what the 30-year-old musician, who appeared emotional, nervous and sad, had to say to TMZ:

On why he broke up with Jen: “People are different, people have different chemistry. I ended a relationship to be alone, because I don’t want to waste somebody’s time if something’s not right. It’s not about years, it’s about going out with somebody, being truthful on the way in, being truthful in the middle and being truthful on the way out.”

On his breakup being completely normal: “There’s no lying, there’s no cheating, there’s no nothing. I’m sorry that the story’s not interesting. But it’s about time that somebody stands up for that girl and I think she’s great.”

On setting the record clear about Jen: “If you guys are going to run stuff and run every lie under the sun, have somebody stand up for somebody. Have me as a man who ended a relationship stand here and write some truth. Have me stand up for somebody and write that Jennifer Aniston is the smartest, most sophisticated person I think I’ve ever met.”

On why relationships generally end: “You’re either a cheater or you breakup. And I’m not the first. I’m the second one. And that’s it. There’s no lying, there’s no bulls—, I just don’t want to be followed around New York City like an animal.”

On singing the praises of Aniston: “She’s one of the most lovely people I’ve ever met in my life and I’m going through something that’s a very personal thing and you have to give that up. You have to give everything up because you can’t have it all and it sucks.”

Later in the day, Aniston, 39, was seen visiting her Brillstein-Grey Entertainment manager in Beverly Hills.

Regarding the breakup with John Mayer, a friend insists it was, “Jen who decided to move on.”

“She is very fond of John and has thought he might be the one. She finds him funny, sexy and very talented. … Plus he understands all the aspects of living in a fishbowl. But in the final analysis, she just got tired of his roving eye,” a friend told the Chicago Sun-Times.

Apparently, Aniston gave Mayer a “three strikes and you’re out” ultimatum — after learning about his “quickie” flings with a cocktail waitress and a promoter’s assistant for his concert tour.

The Friends star has reportedly been dumped by her latest boyfriend, John Mayer. The pair initially decided to spend some time apart, before making the break official earlier this week, according to The Mirror.

“There’s been a bit of tension for some time,” says a source close to 30-year-old musician. “They initially opted for a break, hoping a trial split might make them stronger. Sadly it doesn’t seem to have worked.”

“John took the decision to end things as he felt he just wasn’t ready for the level of commitment that Jennifer deserved. Contrary to reports, Jen didn’t want to have kids or marry this year, but she did want to set a timetable for their future together.”

“She also wanted him to assure her he would cut down his tours in the future when they did eventually have children. Initially, Jennifer was furious when he told her of his decision but now she’s simply sad - not to mention a little heartbroken,” the source said.

“They have spoken on the phone since the split and are trying to remain on good terms. But unless John has a dramatic change of heart, it’s unlikely they’ll rekindle their romance.”

Jennifer Aniston goes out for dinner with some friends while her bodyguard tries to shield her from the photogs in Hollywood on Thursday night.

The 39-year-old actress has continued to train with longtime personal yoga instructor Mandy Ingber. Mandy‘ s been coming to Jen’s Beverly Hills home, usually at noon every day, where she gives Jen an hour and a half yoga workout.

John Mayer, on the other hand, has been working with celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak. “John has been living the 5-Factor lifestyle for 3 years, and kicked it up over the last six months,” Harley tells OK!. John’s workouts are broken down into five phases: a cardio warm-up, upper body strengthening, lower body strengthening, abs and cardio cool down.

After OK! and Star magazine’s stories about Jennifer’s wedding were published, her rep has continued denying those reports. “Both stories from OK! and Star are completely fabricated. There are no wedding plans for Jennifer, and she is not pregnant,” her rep said.

Their wedding probably won’t take place anytime soon, “because Jennifer doesn’t pressure him about that kind of stuff,” a pal close to the couple told E!. “In fact, that’s one of the things he likes about her most. They just have a blast together. It’s uncomplicated.”

“Trust me,” says a Mayer pal, “he isn’t running down the aisle with anyone, anywhere, any time soon. That boy loves being single.”
